The History of
Simpson & Mclean

Phil Simpson and Ian McLean are two sides of the same supply and machining capability coin, whose combined skill sets secure a strong foundation for their expert service in CNC machining and  cutting tool application. 

Phil Simpson began as a trained machinist apprentice, and through expert training and solid mentorship, he worked his way up through the ranks to become a Technical Director at a number of highly regarded and successful machining companies. Phil’s background allows him to expertly advise and consult with clients, in all spectrums of machining queries. 

Ian McLean on the other hand has many years of experience in Sheffield’s cutting tool industry. 

His career started at one of Sheffield’s renowned tooling firms Edgar Allen Tools, which at the time  the most comprehensive introduction to cutting tools production in the UK. He moved on to other well-regarded manufacturing companies in Yorkshire, which specialised in the design & manufacture of special solid & indexable cutting tools. 

Their extensive experience & knowledge of old & new industry techniques makes their partnership a very strong combination, ultimately enabling Simpson and McLean to provide you with exceptional service in all areas of tooling solutions.
